Trust

by John Björling

Waves could not stop me
From telling my stories
And tearing my knees up
On asphalt and dirt
I will take you with me
To show you the heavens
And smother your lips
With tulips and milk

I tell you to trust me
To give me some leeway
A small piece of friendship
That you won’t regret
Yet somehow I manage
To break what you cherish
So you think you know me
For all my mistakes

I laugh then so sickly
And cough up the dust
From the emptiest chambers
Of my shivering heart
But care not to judge me
And speak not of pity
‘Cause lies are just feathers
In the winds made of trust
